30数年前の現役時代でも履いたことがなく、コレクション目的で手に入れた人生初のアディ・スーパーソールのモデルです。
ebayで見つけた時は80年代前半製造のオリジナルの「World Cup」と思いました。
商品説明もそう書いてあったと思います。
アディダス復刻スパイクについては全然詳しくない頃で、アディ・スーパーソールの復刻スパイクは2008年に1978足作られた「World Cup 78」30周年記念モデルしか知りませんでした。
それとは明らかに違うものでしたので、オリジナルと信じきっていました。
それにしては新品のようにきれいに見え、オリジナル「World Cup」が思ったより安く手に入ったことを素直に喜びつつ、出品元のアメリカからの到着を待ちわびていました。
現物を見てみると、肝心の「Made in West Germany」の表示がなく、アディダスの現行モデル用のタグがシュータン裏に貼られ、製造は「Made in Germany」で、製造年月は02/98となっていました。
「なにこれ？」
アディダスシューズ情報の宝庫だった今はなき「adidas-world」を見ても、同じようなモデルはなく、意を決してそのサイトにこのスパイク写真を投稿し、情報を求めることにしました。
ほどなく、そのサイトの常連の方からコメントをいただきました。
その方によると、1998年はアディダスジャパンが設立された頃で、それまでアディダス製品を販売していたデサントからの移行期だったため、ドイツで作られた製品の一部が日本に入ってこなかったのではという有益な情報でした。
きっと、このスパイクは日本では発売されなかった「World Cup 78」の20周年記念復刻モデルなんだろうということで自分の中では納得しています。
98年は我々世代が夢にまで見た日本がW杯に出場した年です。
あの大会の日本のユニフォームはアシックスで、その後はすべてアディダスですが、98年はアディダスジャパンが設立したばかりで、代表ユニフォームのライセンスを得る余裕がなかったのかもしれません。
最近では98年から02年大会ぐらいのスパイクが復刻版として登場する時代になり、その頃のスター選手が愛用していたオリジナルのアディダス・プレデターやナイキ・マーキュリアルは恐ろしい価格で売られていますが、すごい人気のようです。
私が好む年代のスパイクはどんどん忘れ去られていくのは寂しい気もしますし、収集に飽きて手放すベテランコレクターもいるようです。
「adidas-world」も閉じられてしまいましたが、管理人の方の熱意がなくなってしまったのでしょうか…？
スパイクコレクターやシューズファンも世代交代があるみたいですね。
収集歴の浅い私は、これからも80年代の名品モデルを集め続け、ボチボチ情報発信していきたいと思っています。

This is the first model of the Adi Super Sole in my life that I have never worn, even in my 30+ years when I actually played soccer myself, and I acquired it for collection purposes.
When I found them on ebay, I thought they were the original “World Cup” made in the early 80’s.
I think that’s what it said in the product description.
I was not familiar with the Adidas reissued model at all, and I only knew about the 30th anniversary model of the “World Cup 78”, which was made in 2008 for 1978 pairs of Adi Super Sole reissue football boots.
It was obviously different from that one, so I was convinced it was the original.
It looked clean as new then, and I was honestly delighted to find the original “World Cup” at a lower price than I had expected, and was waiting for it to arrive from the seller, America.
When I took a look at the original, there was no “Made in West Germany” label, the tag for the current Adidas model was affixed to the back of the shoe, the manufacturing was “Made in Germany” and the date of manufacture was 02/98.
‘What is this?’
I looked at the now defunct “adidas-world”, which was a treasure trove of information on Adidas shoes, and there were no similar models available, so I decided to post a photo of these boots on that site with the intention of asking for information.
Soon after, I received a comment from a regular on that site.
According to him, 1998 was around the time Adidas Japan was founded, and it was a transition period from Descente company, that had been selling Adidas products, so it was useful information that some of the products made in Germany may not have made it to Japan.
I am convinced in my mind that this boots is probably a 20th anniversary reprint of the “World Cup 78” that was never released in Japan.
’98 was the year that our generation dreamed of having Japan participate in the World Cup.
Japan’s uniform for that tournament was Asics, and after that it was all Adidas, but Adidas Japan had just been established in 1998, and maybe they couldn’t afford to get a license for the national uniform.
The original Adidas Predator and Nike Mercurial, which were used by the star players of that time, are sold at a terrible price, but they seem to be very popular.
I feel sad that the boots of my preferred era are being forgotten more and more, and some veteran collectors seem to have gotten tired of collecting and are giving them away.
Adidas-world, which used to be a treasure trove of information on Adidas sneakers and football boots, has closed down, but I wonder if the webmaster has lost his enthusiasm…?
There seems to be a generational shift in football boots collectors and shoe fans.
I don’t have a long history of collecting, but I will continue to collect classic models from the 80’s and send out information about them.
